This portable Travel Tea Set is using the ancient (Ruyao) Ru Kiln pottery technique & recipes which can be traced back all the way to Song Dynasty in China (over 1000 years history). To a lot of tea and traditional pottery lovers, (Ruyao) Ru Kiln porcelain is a term that conjures images of a rich, jade like texture, pure and deep color, and a smooth yet subtly crazed surface. About the irregular crackles all over the surface (called Kai Pian in Chinese), it is not so conspicuous yet for the new tea set, but with long time use, the tea liquid will gradually penetrate into the crackles, you will be able to see them more clearly. For a lot of tea lovers, the deeper the color gets, the more charming the set will bring.
Here are some tips for caring for your Ruyao piece:
Warm the Ruyao ware by rinsing in warm or hot tap water before pouring very hot tea or water into it, and avoid sudden and extreme changes in temperature as it will cause the surface to craze more quickly.
